LANAP® Laser Treatment

What is LANAP
Periodontal disease is unfortunately, a common and frequently ignored illness. The majority of people with periodontal disease may go untreated until advanced stage symptoms like bleeding gums or receding gums appear. Perhaps one reason that periodontal disease does not garner the attention that it deserves is that most sufferers are unaware of the effect that periodontal disease has upon other medical conditions.

Periodontal, or gum disease, has been found to negatively impact heart disease, diabetes, and pancreatic cancer. Lake Jackson periodontist Dr Marie-Claire Tredinick successfully treats gum disease using the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP®).

Do I Have Periodontal Disease if I Have Bleeding Gums?
The symptoms of periodontal disease progress in stages. It begins with inflammation and bleeding gums and advances to receding gums and loose teeth. In the later stages, tooth loss and bone deterioration occur. Dr. Tredinick can evaluate your teeth and bleeding gums to determine whether you need treatment for periodontal disease.

What is LANAP®?
LANAP® is a laser surgical procedure performed by our Lake Jackson periodontist Dr. Tredinick that eliminates the bacteria that cause the bleeding gums, inflammation, and other symptoms associated with gum disease. LANAP® is performed with the PerioLase® MVP-7® and is the only FDA cleared protocol for the treatment of periodontal disease. Dr. Tredinick offers this laser gum surgery as patients experience less pain and discomfort than they do with traditional surgery.

Should I Consider LANAP® for Bleeding Gums?
Any patient with periodontal disease is generally a good candidate for LANAP®. If you suffer from loose teeth or bleeding gums, Dr.Tredinick can help you determine if this is the right procedure for you during a consultation.

Dr. Tredinick is trained and certified in the use of LANAP® using the PerioLase® MVP-7®. When used to treat bone loss, inflammation, and bleeding gums with this method, patients can enjoy the results of a successful treatment without the scalpel and sutures associated with traditional surgery.
